Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and risk for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC): Role of diabetes medications and glycemic control: A large American retrospective cohort study shows that metformin is associated with a reduced HCC risk in NAFLD patients, while a combination therapy of insulin and other oral antidiabetics is associated with an increased risk. Adequate glycemic control is also linked to a significantly reduced HCC risk.
