Hepatic encephalopathy: In patients with bouts of overt hepatic encephalopathy (OHE), L-ornithine-L-aspartate (as add-on therapy to lactulose and ceftriaxone) reduced the grade of OHE in a current study significantly on days 1-4, but not on day 5, and decreased venous ammonia, time to recovery, and length of hospital stay.
