Liver and Bile Ducts
Text:

Slooter CD et al, Hepatology. 2024;79(3):538–50

Autoimmune hepatitis: Lack of complete biochemical response leads to adverse outcome: The International Autoimmune Hepatitis Group retrospective registry (IAIHG-RR) represents the world's largest autoimmune hepatitis cohort. A recent evaluation demonstrates that a lack of complete biochemical treatment response is a significant unfavorable prognostic factor (association with liver-related death and liver transplantation). Other, but less strong, negative prognostic factors include non-White ethnicity, cirrhosis, and overlap syndrome with primary sclerosing cholangitis.

Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) with liver fibrosis: Efficacy of resmetirom in a randomized, controlled phase 3 trial: Resmetirom was superior to placebo with respect to NASH resolution (dose-dependent 26–30% vs. 10% with placebo) and improvement in liver fibrosis by at least one stage (dose-dependent 24–26% vs. 14% with placebo).

Endoscopic ultrasonography-guided gastroenterostomy (EUS-GE) versus uncovered duodenal metal stenting: In patients with malignant gastric outlet obstruction, a randomized trial revealed that EUS-GE can reduce the frequency of reintervention, improve stent patency and result in better patient-reported eating habits.
