Chronic hepatitis B: According to a recent study, nucleos(t)id analogue-induced hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg) seroclearance is as durable as spontaneous HBsAg seroclearance. A positive hepatitis B surface antibody (anti-HBs) is not required before stopping treatment, however, an antiviral consolidation treatment for at least 12 months may result in more durable HBsAg seroclearance.

Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and cancer treatment: HCV reactivation is common in patients receiving rituximab or high-dose steroids, however, most patients experience no clinical problems. Thus, HCV infection is no contraindication for cancer treatment. Patients receiving rituximab or high-dose steroids should be monitored closely.
