Screening for varices in liver cirrhosis: Expanded Baveno VI criteria (platelet count > 150 x 109 cells/l and liver stiffness < 25 kPa) may spare a large proportion of screening endoscopies for varices needing treatment. In a current study, the expanded criteria would potentially spare 40% of all endoscopies.
