Effectiveness and safety of advanced combination therapies in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD): This Canadian multicenter study involving patients with refractory IBD or extraintestinal manifestations reports clinical and endoscopic response rates after 12 months of advanced combination therapies of 60% and 32%, respectively, and a clinical remission rate of 30%.

JAK inhibitor-induced acne in inflammatory bowel disease: This large retrospective cohort study revealed a prevalence of acne in 15.9%, 4.3% and 1.9% of patients treated with upadacitinib, tofacitinib and filgotinib, respectively. 40% of patients with acne received specific medical therapies and 18% required dose reduction or discontinuation of the JAK inhibitor.

Microbial signatures as predictors of transplant outcomes: A recent study shows that microbial signatures from donor livers, detectable in organ preservation fluid, are associated with early outcomes after liver transplantation. The findings highlight the intrahepatic microbiome as a previously underrecognized factor influencing early graft function. The results suggest that microbiological profiling may help improve risk assessment and organ allocation in the future.

Risk-based HCC surveillance in MASLD using non-invasive tests: This study demonstrates that non-invasive markers such as the FIB-4 score and liver stiffness measurement can reliably predict hepatocellular carcinoma risk in patients with MASLD. Defined thresholds help identify those who may benefit most from surveillance, for example with FIB-4 ≥ 3.25 or elevated liver stiffness. The findings support a more targeted, risk-adapted approach to HCC surveillance rather than broad screening.
